Use of Certified Wood in the Netherlands

Of all the lumber used in the Netherlands 8% come from sustainably managed forests. It is estimated that 1/3 of the timber reach customers through hardware stores, and that 2/3 reach professional construction.

In the furniture and parquet industry, the proportion of FSC certified wood rapidly grows. The paper industry is lagging behind. The aim of the Ministry of VROM is  to reach  25% of certified wood in 2005.

The FSC market share in the professional construction in the Netherlands is still growing. 250 municipalities and 140 housing associations have signed a letter of intent that they will use certified wood in their construction projects.
