Certification Decision
Based on the inspection report and the response of the management team of the company, the certifying institute will make a decision: to certify or not.
Again, as in the certification of forest management, the company still cannot be certified, if it has not complied to the CoC standard. The certifier provides pre-conditions or major CARs. Only if these pre-conditions are met, the certification is requested.
If the company meets the requirements and it can be certified, it may possibly get a list of minor CARs or conditions. These should be met within a certain time period.
A company always has the option to appeal, if it disagrees with the decision of the certifying institute. Then, the company must contact the certifier (or the FSC office).
A certificate is given for a period of five years. However, an annual inspection will take place.
The proper use of the logo is strictly monitored by the certifier (and FSC). Each certificate has a number, the name of the certifying institute + type of certificate + number. An example is: SKAL-FM/CoC-016660
