Logging plan, transport and registration

With the data from the forest exploration, the  concession holders make a logging plan annually. The planned amount of felled timber determines the heightof the levy on wood, charges. The  concessionaire pays this to SBB, even if logging has not been reached as is  planned. The timber sector would like to see the latter situation changed.

The harvested trunks and the remaining stump will be provided with a number and a label. According to the rules of SBB, the trunks will be measured and recorded in the cutting register. At checkpoints along the roads, SBB checks the trunks that leave the forest.

Each transporter must have a transport ticket with them, which indicated where and how much timber was harvested. Transporters have a transport permit and are enrolled in a forestry registry. Once arriving  at the sawmill, round timber will be checked by SBB since sawn timber cannot (yet) be traced back to the source.
