Forest Act and Regulations

The general forest law (1992) provides frameworks for sustainable forest management, forestry and primary wood processing.

The forest law is supplemented with Decisions with related forms, decrees, laws and other state laws relating to  e.g. long term- lease, timber exports and nature conservation.

The monitoring of the implementation of the law are done  by LBB and SBB.

Parts of the forest law and Decisions must be adapted to the current vision on sustainable forest management, forest exploitation and primary wood processing. This is mainly regarding f permits (Large-scaling in terms of time and area, transparency of procedures), setting taxes (increasing land tax and lowering fees), regulations for timber transport on roads and over water.
