Training and knowledge dissemination

Several training courses for the improvement of existing wood processing practices were implemented during this project. In each training course attention was given to occupational safety, health and appropriate housekeeping issues. These courses aimed to improvement of employees’ skills.

The courses that were undertaken, are:

 

  • Practical Wood Processing Training
  • Middle Management Training
  • Health and Safety training


Wood Processing Training

Topics of this training were:

  • Skills planer/moulder operators
  • Sharpening tools (chisels)
  • Checking the product that comes out of the planer
  • Uniformity of products over time
  • Maintanance and service of machinery
  • Training concerning the four-sided planing machine

 


Middle Management Training

Topics of this training were:

  • Effective communication
  • Delegation of knowledge and experience
  • Coaching and leadership
  • Time management, planning and control
  • Teammanagement
  • Dealing with problems
  • Dealing with introduction of new or different methods of producing


Health and Safety Training

Topics of this training were:

  • Employee’s physic comfort
  • Legal regulations pertaining to the job centers (elements of labor law), obligations of employers and employees, inspections
  • Hazard and accidents: theory, different types, in the factory, during installation of products
  • Dangerous materials, including wood species, and hazardous substances
  • Fire and explosion
  • Working in confined areas
  • Working at height
  • Lifting, slipping
  • Personal protective equipment: different types, type of protections, application
  • Health risks
  • Potential adaptations in factories, including training and control of employees
