Percentage-based claims (PBC)

Because it is sometimes difficult to produce end products such as paper and board material from 100% certified material, FSC has developed the percentage-based claims. This allows manufacturers to:

• get more recognition for products consisting partly of FSC materials
• to also produce FSC- products if  not all supplying companies are certified
• to make greater use of smaller parties of  certified wood from small producers

On  the end product it is clearly stated the percentage of certified wood.

Currently, the percentage-based claims (PBC)policy of the FSC is being revised. There are ongoing extensive consultations among members. Look for  up-to-date information on the FSC website. The following documents are the old versions.
